It was a pleasure to visit our partners at the University of Ferrara and spend several days discussing research, exchanging ideas, and exploring new directions within the AIDA4Edge project. Last week, the team from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Niš, had the opportunity to participate in a short-term visit hosted by the University of Ferrara and organized by Prof. Riccardo Zese.
The visit was filled with productive discussions, research meetings, and inspiring lectures focused on advancing AI methodologies for edge computing and deep neural network optimization.

A major highlight was the series of lectures on Probabilistic Logic Programming delivered by Prof. Fabrizio Riguzzi. Through these sessions, we explored how probabilistic reasoning and symbolic rules can be leveraged to support hyper-parameter tuning and neural network optimization, opening new possibilities for the integration of symbolic AI and deep learning techniques.

We also had the opportunity to attend the WP4 Standardization session led by Linda Polastri, where important aspects of standardization activities within the project were presented and discussed.

In addition to the lectures, the visit included research meetings and project discussions dedicated to:
🔹 Hyper-parameter tuning methodologies for deep neural networks
🔹 Symbolic DNN-Tuner development
🔹 Integration of quantization techniques with AI optimization frameworks
🔹 Standardization activities and future project directions
🔹 Strengthening cooperation among AIDA4Edge partners
Beyond the technical achievements, this visit was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, establish new research directions, and further strengthen the collaboration between our institutions.
